I moved to Jerusalem in late 2009. My first years in this city, I felt I had lost myself in the fire and intensity of Jerusalem. Kabbalah teaches us that the city of Jerusalem corresponds to the element of fire. Fire overwhelms, consumes. That's how I felt here. I didn't know how to find myself.
Walking one day, I began noticing all the different details that make up this city. The doors, the windows, the elements of architecture that make this city so special. I was drawn to capture the distinctive qualities that shape Jerusalem in art form.
I started photographing doors, creating art and sharing the results on social media.
Along the way, I learned something else about fire.
Fire has the power to give continuously without diminishing. With this awareness, I re-framed Jerusalem for myself. I learned how to harness the energy here to find myself. I started feeling at home in this city.
My hope for this project is to inspire others to listen to themselves and see the people around them. To find acceptance and to experience joy in the little details of life.
